Old Town 'Gasworks Sunday Socials' launched to support businesses during road closure
Friends of Old Town (the public face of the Old Town Business Association) is proud to launch a bold new series of events for August 2025: Old Town Gasworks Sunday Socials. These three large-scale Sunday events on Devizes Road and Wood Street aim to support local businesses through a disruptive summer of gas works, by bringing colour, culture and community spirit back to the streets.
Over 10,000 support Old Town Arts Festival 2025 as Street Party finale brings Wood Street to life
The Old Town Festival 2025 came to a powerful close on Sunday 8 June, with over 4,000 people filling Wood Street for the ever-popular Old Town Festival Street Party. The event marked the grand finale of a week-long programme of creative events, performances, and workshops that brought over 10,000 people together in celebration of local culture, community and the arts.
Devizes Road ready for summertime pop-up food and drink street trading as gas company close road for 3 months
Old Town’s Devizes Road is set for a major infrastructure upgrade this summer as Wales & West Utilities begin essential work to replace ageing gas pipes beneath one of Old Town’s key routes. The planned road closure, approved by Swindon Borough Council, will begin at the end of June and continue in phases until the end of September.
